There has been little action here at Blacklines Publications for the past few months. For a range of reasons, Blacklines is no longer. It was a great run - since 2000.

But we are still in business.

We are now called Iscariot Media. Under Iscariot Media we have created a range of different websites including:

The Critical Classroom - to help teachers to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in their classroom.

Australian Black History Month for teachers - resources and ideas to celebrate Australia's Blak History each July.

Blak History - a very new website which aims to post about events in Australia's Blak History on the days they happened. Very much a work-in-progress over the next few years.

Dark and Disturbing - a new website with our products still in development, that works with Indigenous and First Nations visual and fine artists to create t-shirt designs.

As you can Blacklines is no longer operational, but we are still creating and work harder than ever.

Leesa joins the Critical Mass bloggers for Brisbane Festival

Leesa was invited to become a Critical Mass blogger for this year's Brisbane Festival in September 2011.

I'm excited though it will certainly be a challenge finding my voice for this type of event. I've only once blogged about a theatrical event. That was Cookie's Table at the Cremorne Theatre last year.

Blak History Month

If you follow us on Twitter you will have noticed that our profile picture is the Blak History Month poster created by Sam Cook.

Blacklines Education is please to be part of this wonderful grass-roots celebration. For the past few years Leesa has been working with a number of others to create Great Moments in Blakistory fact sheets.

They have been compiled here at a single website for teachers to download for classroom activities. There are also classroom ideas and other resources for teachers to hold their own Blak History Month celebration.

We have a BMX team

Kym & a busted up knee...

Kym, our deadly Townsville-based BL-Sales sista, has just resumed BMX racing after a break of a couple of decades.

Formerly a Northern Territory age champion (way back when), Kym's has lost none of her youthful racing spirit.

Along with her three kids, Kym can be regularly found at the Townsville BMX track or at various championships throughout Queensland.

Blacklines are very happy to be sponsors of the teamSMITH.

We'll upload photos soon and will definitely be keeping a close eye on our team and will let you know how they go.

Blacklines to work with BIMA

The Design & Communication team are very excited to be working with BIMA:the Brisbane Indigenous Media Association for the next few months.

BIMA have recently moved to newly renovated Amersham Street studio at West End. Many Brisbane-based people will know that this old Armourguard Building was also the first proppaNOW Aboriginal Artists Collective studio for the last few years.

The renovation and fit out of the building is amazing. Laurie Nilson's emu sculptures out the front provide a beautiful transition from proppaNOW to BIMA.

Lisa goes to Rome!

We're very excited about Lisa's trip to Rome next month for the canonisation of Mary MacKillop, Australia's first Catholic saint.

We've started working on some fun celebration craft activities to celebrate in the classroom.

Laguna Publishing

Blacklines has been busy these past months working with Laguna Bay Publishing. Based in Sydney, Laguna have contracted us to produce teacher's notes for a deadly new set of school resources that will be available late 2010 and early 2011.

Launch of Lagaw Gub in Canberra

It was exciting last week as Blacklines headed to Canberra where we participated in the launch of Lagaw Gub, a unique education kit.

Created by BlakDanceAustralia, this Learning Through Culture kit is the first Torres Strait Island specific education resource on the market.

Blacklines' work though isn't finished as we continue to work with BlakDance Australia to develop the resources and assist in delivering teacher workshops around the country.
